Friday we took Nicholas to the eye doctor in Mandeville. It turns out that his double vision is caused by a misalignment of his eyes. (Caused by the impact of the accident) He was fitted for "prism glasses" which will help to refocus his eyes into seeing one image. We were very happy that he didn't need any surgery. His glasses should be arriving in about a week.
We also went to see the staff at Touro while in New Orleans. Nicholas didn't remember any of it but everyone was very happy to see him and said how good he looked. We spent the weekend in NO to care for Brendan while Amanda and Craig attended the festivities. We went to one parade on Saturday and got lots of beads. I'm not sure Nick enjoyed it because it was very chilly.
The bathrooms were on the second story of the house and Nick and I managed to climb them twice to take a bath. He is getting stronger every day. This morning when I woke up I heard some noise from his bedroom. When I got there I was greeted by Nick sitting in his wheelchair at the door of his room. I don't know how he managed it, but he got himself into the chair without any help.
After two weeks of discouragement because we saw no improvement, he is coming back around with some new and exciting things. We pray for unfaltering faith even when things look discouraging.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
Sondra
