This week has been a difficult one. It seemed that Nick wasn't very motivated to do the things that he had been doing. It was very discouraging. But just when I felt like I might not hold it together, something good happened...

For the past few nights, Nick has been waking me up at 3:00 am by hitting the sides of his bed. Last night at 3:00, I heard a groan and then I heard Momma. I woke Eric up and we both listened to be sure we weren't dreaming. Sure enough, he was calling me. When we got to his room, he had turned himself on his side. We were very excited. I tried to get him to say it again this morning, but he didn't. Although we are grateful for every little milestone, I had been praying for him to talk, at least enough that we could understand what he needed. I feel that this may be the beginning.

Thanks to all of you who have visited. Nicholas is very bored right now. He understands the severity of his injury and wants to do more, but he is very limited. It helps him to have someone visit.

Thanks also to Darlene, Lawrence, Lauren Abshire and Erica Dubois for the delicious meal you sent last week. We enjoyed it for two nights.

I hope to get to see all of you at the Skeet shoot.

Much love,
Sondra

The picture below is of Nick practicing his duck calling... weak but good.
