June 20th

Nicholas continues to slowly become more aware and is doing new things everyday. Once again yesterday every time he was asked to do something he responded. They removed the trach yesterday with no complications. He was able to pick up a small orange cone and move it from one area to another. He also took a baseball out of the therapists hand and when told to throw it he opened his hand and dropped it. Yesterday he grabbed Brendan’s photo again when asked.

The therapist that stretches him in the morning before therapy has now gotten Nick to give her a thumbs up when he is uncomfortable. When she stretches his legs she keeps stretching until he shows her a thumbs up, then she relaxes his leg and moves on.

He was able to give mom a hug by wrapping one arm around her and when she patted his back she asked him to do the same and he lightly patted her on the back.

Nicholas is still in the coma, but these continued signs of response mean he understands what is going on and he is slowly recovering.

Please continue your prayers. The insurance company again this week is fighting us and wants to send him home. Please pray that the insurance company will stop fighting TOURO and allow him to continue to get the therapy he needs.

So glad to have the website to see how Nick is progressing. Please know our prayers are ongoing for Nick and his whole family and those who are working with him at Touro. We know that he is strong and that he will pull through this and we wish continued success in his recovery. Our prayer lines are still active and will remain such. God Bless you all.
