The blog is dedicated to Nicholas Trahan. Nick sustained a traumatic brain injury as the result of an auto accident in 2006. After remaining in a coma for 3 months, he began the long road to recovery.

Things are going well for Nicholas right now. His hand is healing, he has a great sitter who he likes and soon he will be re-evaluated for therapy. I truly feel that they will take him back. His speech has definitely improved and I owe that to Shawn, the sitter. They r-e-a-l-l-y talk to each other. That is exactly what Nick needed. They go to the pool a couple of times a week and Nick walks from side to side with very little help. He also has been going upstairs (where we moved his exercise equipment) and working out. Jordan moved to Lafayette and the house seems quite different, but we do have lots more room.
Nick had a great time at Erin and Dane's wedding. I am grateful for all of the girls and guys that came over to talk to him. He misses everyone so much and he told me he was especially happy to see the people he hadn't seen since before his accident. It may seem strange to you, but he does remember everyone.
Eric took Nick to Pecan Island last weekend and he had a really good time. He and his dad and his Uncle Jack went shrimping. As all of you know, there is nothing that Nick liked better than spending time in a boat or duck blind.
It has been a great comfort to me to have Nick with a sitter who he is happy with. For the first time since Nick's accident, I go to work and I don't worry all day. He has never texted me to say that he is angry or bored or "wants to fire anyone". I am so grateful.
I pray for all of you who read this site as well as the other young people Nick's age, that you will all be safe and happy.
Love,
Sondra

Hello Nicholas and Sondra. This is Dan Maughan from www.helpdanheal.com. The recumbent trike you saw on www.helpdanheal.blogspot.com was about 10 years old. I just got a new trike from www.utahtrikes.com. I know exactly what Nicholas is going through. My accident was in 1986 - 23 years ago. I think that was the year he was born. Keep Faith in God and do everything like it depends on you and Never give up. HE IS THERE and you will know it. -your friend, Dan
