July 2, 2007

Nicholas is steadily regaining his strength. Eric and I met with the PT last Wednesday and some of his news was disappointing, but we will not lose faith. I have been able to walk a short distance with Nick again lately. He has lost some weight, but is probably the same size he was in high school which makes it much easier on me. Since my last writing we have taken Nicholas swimming and in the boat. He really enjoyed it, although it was a workout for me. Meagan bought him a new life jacket that keeps him upright at all times and he helps me move him around the pool by kicking his feet. Although he gets down sometimes, he hasn't lost his will to work. Naturally, it is too slow for him, but he works very hard on his stationary bike and his Ablounge. We even let him walk on the treadmill a little Saturday night. He can't go for very long and he needs Eric to help him stay upright, but he did much better than we had expected. I can now get him in and out of the hot tub and he enjoys that very much. Last week, while I was at work, he text messaged me "In Hotub". I know that meant he wanted to get in when I got home, and we did.

Please keep Nick in your prayers on July 13th. He will be having work done on his teeth and will have to be hospitalized and sedated. He is a little nervous about that.
