I know that it has been a long time since I posted anything and I apologize to all of you who check regularly. Nick is doing much better in many ways. He has gained all of his weight back and a little more. His chewing and swallowing is stronger and although he still cannot sustain himself on solids, he is able to eat more now. He has been asking to remove the feeding tube and they will do that when he can chew and eat solid foods well enough to replace the liquid diet. His speech has been very slow but he communicates very well using an alphabet chart. He spells out the words he wants to say. That will come as a great surprise to those of you who taught him through the years. He wasn't the greatest speller but does extremely well.

Nick likes going to therapy and is working hard although he wants to walk very badly and gets angry at times. He has taken a couple of falls out of his wheelchair because he tries to reach for things that he cannot get to - No injuries thank God.

A total body scan was done on him to make sure that no broken bones were missed from previous X-rays that might hinder in his rehabilitation. ALL WAS CLEAR.

Nick is now taking only four medications which is half of what he took when he left the hospital. I believe that soon he will be weaned off of a few more.

The visits from friends have become very rare these days (Probably because of finals and the holidays) but he enjoys seeing all of you. He especially loves when the babies come over. Last night he fed Kate her bottle. I know that if it is God's will, he will make a wonderful father some day.

After the holidays I plan to take him to the eye doctor because it seems that he has some vision problems. That is understandable due to the extent of his brain injury.

If there are any questions you would like for me to answer about his progress, please leave it on the comments. I am sure that I forgot to write a lot, but I am doing this at work and I don't have much time.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. God bless you.

Sondra
