August 21, 2006

Nick had a very good weekend. He is definately getting around now. When we put him in his wheelchair, he moves the foot rests away and pushes himself backwards around the room. When I transfer him into and out of his bed, he pushes with his legs to an almost standing position.

As I stated before, Nick enjoys visits from his friends, but cannot handle overstimulation or for more than about 15 minutes. If all he is doing is one thing without distractions, he can handle things for longer. If there is more than one or two people in the room and the TV is on, or there is some other kind of distraction, he will not respond.

We are very grateful for the meals that have been provided to us.

Thanks to Kay Broussard, Vickie Hebert, Vanessa Villien, Deanna Broussard, Tracy Abshire, Cassie Hargrave and Dana Hargrave for the delicious meals. We appreciate it sooooo much.

PS

I just heard from the Physical Therapist, Richie. He stood Nick up today and he took a couple of steps. We are so excited!!!!

Sondra,
You may not remember me but I am a friend of Amanda's...we actually worked together...my name is Pam Bergeron and I wanted to let you know that my prayer group which meets every other Monday evening and my bible study group which meets every Wednesday morning pray for Nick and his complete recovery. Being a mom is the greatest blessing the Lord can give us and I know how difficult it is as a parent when your child is sick. Stay strong and know that we are all praying for Nick and for all of you. Keep up the GREAT work.
Love and blessings,
Pam Bergeron
