Nicholas is doing well. He is getting more responsive every day and lets us know when he is annoyed. HE REALLY LETS US KNOW!!! When friends come over he seems very happy to see them, responding with waves and smiling as best he can. When we left the hospital, the therapist told me that he probably wouldn't be able to watch TV for very long, that he would probably "shut down" if he became overloaded after a while. Well, this Sunday he watched all of a movie and even raised his arm to let his Dad know that he was talking too loud during the movie (go figure!!). That is a great accomplishment!

We still have not received his custom wheelchair and shower chair, but we are doing the best we can. Last night, Meagan gave him a haircut and we brought him to the shower, just to wash his hair. He loved it!!! We took him out in his wheelchair and he watched as Meagan worked with his dog, Tess. He even got angry and raised his arms when Tess tried to jump up on him (he does that a lot). Mr. Eric has been working on his reading skills, by giving him little tests to choose the correct answer in a multiple choice question. He has been doing great!!! We weren't sure of just what he would be able to do when he came out of the coma, but we at least know that he can read, and that is very encouraging. His "Elvis smile" is getting wider, which means that the connections from the brain are healing.

We pray that his healing process will continue, no matter how long it takes.

Much love to all,

Sondra
