July 13th

Nicholas has shown improvements in the past few days. Yesterday all of the therapists say he is doing a little more with each passing day.

He was able to tolerate a few spoonfuls of pudding as well as a few spoonfuls of applesauce yesterday. He is doing well with swallowing and eating, but it will be a while before he will be able to be fed solely by mouth.

He continues to be more and more aware and is continually trying to speak. The speech therapist reported that Nicholas moved up a level in the areas of attention and cognitive function.

Nicholas was given a comb and was able to move it in the direction of his head and show what you do with it. He also took a toothbrush and held it to his mouth as well as a cup.

Nicholas is slowly working to get his body to do what he wants and all of his therapists are very encouraged by his progress and his determination.

This will be a long process please continue to pray for Nick's recovery as well as his faith to continue to strive.

A Message from Mom:

To all of you who visit this site... I would like to thank you for your support and ask that you continue in your prayers for Nick. We were told from the time of the accident that this would be a slow process with little hope for a full recovery. Because of our faith and the faith of his friends, God has helped him in his journey. Eric and I are truly touched by the outpouring of Love all of you have showed for Nick in the past months. We have always known how special Nick is but it is heartwarming to know that others love him as much as we do. God has good things in store for him!!!!Ms. Sondra

We are so thrilled to hear of Nick's progress. He is still and the prayer line at St. Mary Mag. and will be even after he's home. Thank you so much for the updates Amanda and Sondra. It really helps us and answers many questions. Nick has made such a postive impression on so many over the past few months. Everyone is rooting for him and really admiring his courage. He is such a gentle, brave soul and we can't wait to see him around again. Take care all of you family members. We are here if you need anything at all.
