July 10th

Sorry it has been so long since the last post. Nicholas continues to show little improvements with each passing day. All of his therapists report that each week he does progress little by little, and continues to try new things.

Nicholas makes small strides and it is going to take time for him to recover. We are grateful for every new stride he makes and every small improvement. Nicholas is starting to try and hold his head and torso up as well as more activity with his right arm.

The following is a personal note Nick's Speech Therapist left for us this weekend.

7/7/06
Trahan Family,
Just wanted to let you know that Nick had a good week of therapy. He is consistently following a few more simple commands & produced some voice for me 4 times today on command (after Lots of cueing.) Two sort of grunts and a two mmmmm sounds. He has also taken a few trials of applesauce and is tolerating them better-still weak and a little uncoordinated (his swallow) and isn't ready for more by mouth, but, like I said, we have to take his swallowing very slow and this is definitely progress!! Hope you have a nice weekend and thanks for the flash cards!! We used them and he did well!

Lindsey (Speech Therapist)

Everyone at the hospital continues to work very hard to help Nicholas recover and their optimism in his therapy can only help. We will continue to pray and support Nicholas and please continue to do the same. I will continue to update as often as I can and keep everyone posted on his progress.

Thanks for the updates. The entire family continues to pray for Nicholas' full recovery. We also pray for all Nick's family, that you have continued strength and faith to guide you thru this time. God is on our side, and is with Nicholas as he continues to improve.

Love,
Randy and Janine
